I drive my car on average 20 miles a day, I fill the tank of my car every two weeks, make 300 miles on one load of 7 gallons. I used to spend about $28 per month, now I’m spending $42, almost double in 2 years. Anyway, those extra $14 a month is not a big deal, at least for me, because I dont drive SUV. For those who drive SUV, the picture is getting worse: with an average gas tank capacity of 70 gallons and fuel economy of 14 miles per gallon inside a city (less with air conditioning used), my expenses would be about $126 a month.

Do you remember the scandal around Enron? The company was controlling electric power plants in California and making money by creating an artificial demand for the electricity during the peak hours; so they can charge more per kilowatt hour? Their tactic was simple, they would call a plant manager and ask him to shutdown the power plant for couple of hours, watched demand rise with the price of electricity. Very “smart” way. They are also probably responsible for the higher death rate among senior citizens whose old hearts could not sustain the Californian heat. I would give a death penalty for such actions.

It seems like the same happens with oil. While the war in Iraq goes on, the amount of oil entering or produced on US soil did not change, and was far above the demand. So, why do we have the oil prices go up on the daily basis? The Oil Game. The oil price will go up if there will be any news of low supply from the oil sites, just small news may drive the price up. Who knows, if all those explosions near or inside the Iraqi oil sites had place just to make some people to make profits off those news, and nothing more. Artificial reason.

I’m sure that those people, who initiate and play the Oil Game, do not care about the health of economies and the world situation, and care only about the current day, or amount of money they can make, like those in Enron.
